Joanna Kamenarska was born in 1978 in Sofia, Bulgaria. She studied with Prof. Josif Radionov, Sofia, since 1995 bei Prof. Ruggiero Ricci and Prof. Igor Ozim at the Mozarteum Salzburg. Since the age of 10 she has been a prize-winner of international competitions, such as the 3. prize at the International Mozart Competition Salzburg 2002. She was also a Semifinalist at the Queen Elisabeth International Competition and Sibelius Competition 2005.

Joanna frequently gives concerts all over Europe and South America and has performed at major halls such as the "Concertgebouw" Amsterdam, "Schauspielhaus" Berlin, "Großen Saal des Mozarteums", "Große Aula der Universität" Salzburg, "Brucknerhaus" Linz, "Gasteig" München, "Tonhalle" Zürich, Theater Schwetzingen and Bulgaria Hall, Sofia as a soloist with various orchestras including: Berlin Sinfonie-Orchestra, Berlin Radioorchestra, Nürnberg Symphonie Orchestra, Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Mozart Chamber Orchestra, Salzburg Soloists, the Chamber Orchestra CIS, L´ Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, Poland Chamber Philharmonic, as well as in her native country with the Philharmonic Orchestras of Sofia, Rousse, Varna etc. She collaborated with the following conducters: Paul Goodwin, Dennis Russel-Davies and Pierre Boulez.

She has been regularly invited to major festivals and concert serias such as: "Festival di Pasqua", Rome, "Nuovi Spazi Musicali", Rome, Festival Santa Cristina, Spain, "Aspekte New Music Festival", Salzburg, European Music Festival Lissabon, "Salzburger Kulturtage", Festival of the arts, Apolonia, Sozopol, Bulgaria, Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg, Mozartfest Schwetzingen, "Bachgesellschaft" Salzburg, "Mozartfest" Chieti, Weilburger Schlosskonzerten. As a chamber musician even as a violist or occasionally taking up the barock violin, she worked together with musicians like: Karl Leister, Alois Brandhofer, Hermann Baumann, Radovan Vlatkovic, Michael Martin Kofler, Benjamin Schmid, Lars-Anders Tomter, Quirine Viersen, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Michala Petri, Reinhard Goebel, Emma KIrkby, Roland Greutter, Valentin Radutiu, Sofia Quartett and Faust Quartett. Since 2004-2007 Joanna was the leader of the "Mozart Quartett Salzburg". She has also been leading the following ensembles: Aspekte New Music Ensemble, "Österreichisches Ensemble für Neue Musik" (ÖENM), Salzburg Barockensemble and Collegium Iuvenale Salisburgense (CIS).

Ever since their meeting in Salzburg in 1999 Joanna has played and recorded with her husband, the swedish pianist Per Rundberg. They encompass a vast repertoire taking an active interest in contemporary music and have already performed at important festivals in numerous countries. They recorded for the German and Austrian Radio, for the Bulgarian National Radio and Television and for the Swedish Radio. Being a prize-winner of the Mozart-competition she masters the complete works for violin by W.A. Mozart and often performs all concerts as well as the sonatas.

Joanna Kamenarska received a time-contract as a concertmaster of the NDR Symphony Orchestra Hamburg for the season 2007/2008. During this time she won another position as a 2.nd concertmaster of Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra, beginning in september 2008. As a gast-concertmaster she has received invitations from Camerata Salzburg and the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne. Since 2007 is she a member of the Hamburg String Sextett.

Joanna Kamenarska plays a G.B. Guadagnini -violin, build in 1771, kindly given her from the Donald Kahn Trust.
